When I was about 16 years old, I passed through a patch of poison oak while on a picnic in the woods. Soon after I was covered with a rash. Though the rash was gone after a time, I kept getting recurrences during the year even though I wasn't near the plant again. During the next 16 years, I was told by well meaning friends and relatives that I had something in my blood that I would never get rid of but would cause the rash the rest of my life. I rebelled against this thought.  Finally, I found this statement in, "Science and Health, With Key to the Scriptures",  which felt so satisfying. It made sense and healed my thought for good. "... Life is Spirit, and ...there is more life and immortality in one good motive and act, than in all the blood which ever flowed through mortal veins and simulated a corporeal sense of life."  With this as my guide, I made every effort to look away from the physical and aim for only good motives and acts. Mary Baker Eddy wrote this book following a spiritual healing of a life-threatening injury. The healing occurred while she prayed when reading her Bible. Her life-long desire to find the laws/rules behind Christ Jesus' ministry lead her through alternative healthcare systems and finally to this discovery.

Science and Health, along with the Bible, is what she calls the Pastor, and is the foundation for Christian Science services all around the world.

 

 

It has a wonderful history of healing — including physical, mental, and spiritual regeneration.
